OBSTETRIC AND GYNECOLOGICAL NURSING
Objectives:
Provide comprehensive care to mother during antenatal, intranatal and postnatal periods.
Identify and manage abnormalities and complications of pregnancy, labor, and puerperium.
Demonstrate competence in caring for high risk new born.
Update recent advancement in contraceptive technology.
Render health education to Antenatal, Intranatal and postnatal mothers and their family members.
Update knowledge in legal and ethical issues pertaining to Obstetric Nursing.
Department has 4M.Sc. nursing faculty, has well established lab with high-tecdummies and mannequins to practice Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing Department related procedures and care. The students are provided with well facilitated clinical experience at Bishop Benziger Hospital and Government Victoria Hospital department PG students are posted at life line hospital infertility center, Department has organized and celebrated world breast feeding week and rendered health education services on all national and international health days.department members have undertaken departmental research activities to upgrade knowledge and professional development. faculty are encouraged to attend CNE, workshop, seminars. regular department meetings are conducted to update departmental activities.
8 PG dissertations are submitted to the Kerala University of Health Sciences.
